VANDERHEYDEN INDIVIDUALS WILL “LIGHT UP THE NIGHT” AT THE ROYAL GALA

Capital Region Community rallies together to provide a“Royal Affair” For Those We Serve

April 27, 2017 -- “Light Up the Night” will be the theme of this year’s Royal Gala for our individuals on Friday, May 19th

The Royal Gala will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1489, 111 Main Avenue in Wynantskill.

Over 200 individuals from our main campus in Wynantskill, and throughout our community, will enter a room filled with sensational lights and shining stars, which will be elegantly decorated with a blue and silver themed starry canvas.  Our individuals will enjoy having their photos taken with a backdrop of a bright crescent moon against a midnight sky.

Once inside, our royal guests will experience an event they will always remember, while members of the Albany Chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization will be preparing and passing hors d'oeuvres.

Karen Carpenter Palumbo, President and CEO of Vanderheyden says “I am extremely thrilled and appreciative that the community and businesses have been so generous with donations for this formal dance. Our youth and adults will feel very special and proud to have a night to shine during this rite of passage.”

Several generous monetary donations from members of our Capital Region community covered costs associated with this event to make this spectacular night a reality.  Many community members and organizations also donated dazzling gowns, exquisite accessories, treasured jewelry and tailored men’s suits for our first-class occasion.  On Friday afternoon, area salon stylists and makeup artists will be donating their services to make our individuals look fabulous.

A fundraiser was held at Uncle Sam Lanes in April to help pay for this special night, along with the sale of a fundraising calendar made possible due to the generous donations of Vanderheyden Team Members. On Saturday, May 6th beginning at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Showroom in Latham will host a fundraiser for the Royal Gala and the store will be a drop off for gently used formal wear and accessories.

Vanderheyden began as the Troy Orphan Asylum in 1833. Today, our facilities provides a safe haven for youth, adults and families who have experienced family disruption, trauma, abuse, emotional difficulty, developmental disability and learning problems. The Richard A.
